Villasimius is a small town less than an hour's drive from Cagliari,
in Sardinia.
Driving in from the direction of the main
city on the Island, our visitor will choose the panoramic
coastal road which winds round the eastern part of the
Gulf of Cagliari, offering a series of breathtaking views.
Right from the start of your journey you'll begin to note
and appreciate the ever changing colours of the sea,
the first of the white sandy beaches and the series of
small
bays set like jewels among the rocks; just a foretaste
to whet your appetite for what awaits you further on.
Villasimius comes into view suddenly.
A complex play of
light and shadows,
of crystal clear sea and stretches of sand, where you
will be able to pick out Capo Carbonara,
which marks the south
eastern tip of Sardinia. A
short distance off shore, set in the sea, the Isola dei
Cavoli (Crab Island) stands out clearly.
This
is how Villasimius comes into view - suddenly - a great
spectacle of colours and scents, where the main player
is Nature and her works: sun, sand, granite, the sea, lentisk
bushes.
A land formed over the centuries, to which the
passing years have offered as their gift this intense
fascination which is the hallmark of the whole of Sardinia.
Each separate
element seems to have a life of its own, the scent of
the Mediterranean vegetation is intense. It almost feels
as
if we're already in Paradise and yet this is just the
beginning of our discoveries.
